Feralia 1998 – Anubis Cameo

Feralia 1998
Participants: Sparrowhawk/Alexandra, Windsoul/Seeker, Ash, Blinks-at-Fire (now Bites-Back), and a guest-star.
Ritemaster/GM: Sepdet

Summary: A fairly ordinary Feralia, apart from the fact that Blinks was rebelling against the tribe, and a very honored guest surprised me with a cameo at the end!

Feralia Conducted (IC) by Anubis
Participants: Sepdet, Su, Seeker, Rholeen, Isis/Traps-Fighter, Blinks-at-Fire, Paul/Seshemw/Shows-the-Way, Nekheb/Moyan Dashe, Anpwhotep (arrived late)
GM: Su, Sepdet

This was a complex, overly-ambitious ONS. The goal of this year’s Feralia was to give Blinks-at-Fire, a notoriously clueless half-moon problem cub, a second chance to prove himself after his first failed RoP. We needed him to be separated so that he couldn’t rely on everyone to tell him what to do or make his decisions. So we broke the Striders into 3 different groups. I also wanted to give Anubis a special scene of his own because normally he had to run everything.

To add to the complexity, I was trying (and failed) to give Eligio a chance to work in his non-wyrmy, enigmatic, maddening Eater of the Dead foil-NPC, Nekheb.

Feralia 1995 – Anubis GMing

Feralia Conducted and GMed by Anubis  (wiz-alt: Tarod)
Participants: Sepdet, Noor/Aset, Anpwhotep, Jeremy/Hand-of-Sekhmet (later died, player re-apped as Seeker), Su

Notes: Noor and Anpwhotep had recently rescued Sepdet from a nearly fatal adventure in Egypt; she had been captured and tortured by Dancers. She was still showing the effects.

Shepitra and the jars who keep popping up are references to Tarod’s foil-alt Warren Ramsey, Strider kinfolk –and something more — a priest of the old ways. He served in St. Claire as a coroner, and was also a gardener.

The Return of Horus

May 1994 Moot Log

Horus, first alpha of the Wheel Renewed, departed for Malfeas on February 21st, which was about my first day in the caern. He did not expect to survive, but he was unwilling to let Aspen Demilune, his Warder, be taken by the enemy unsought, unavenged — at the least he would slay her rather than letting her fall to the Wyrm.

He returned during moot in May, quietly and unheralded. Being a cub, I didn’t get to see much, but Anubis’ greeting of his former mentor and teacher is one of the “highlight moments” of my MUSH memories.

Oh, this was also the log of my most embarrassing mav!

Sept Alpha: Arjun Fletcher

Caller of the Litany: Brandi, Galliard of the Glass Walk (with an infamous reading of the first line)
Fool: Chaser,
Get of Fenris
Inner Sky: Stormcrow, Theurge, Uktena
Truthcatcher: Anubis, Silent Strider
Master of Challenge: Batrana Dracul, Shadow Lord
Announcements: Arjun lifts Time of War
Storytelling: Brandi
(the tale of how Oaken got the deedname “Brick-Catcher”)
Horus enters at the conclusion of Brandi’s short poem.
Revel: Banestriker (no log of this)

Story: The Fingers of Thoth

Thoth’s Fostern Challenge

When Horus came to the Wheel Renewed, he brought a no-moon cynic named Thoth, who became a fine elder after Horus departed to Malfeas (Anubis usually preferred not to be tribe elder, but to appoint another). Thoth spoke in grunts and monosyllables, so his Fostern challenge was to tell a story and amuse the stoic Anubis.

Here’s Thoth’s story. It’s classic Thoth, apart from all the talking.

Summary: Not the most exciting or coherent log, the first half is a lot of news-sharing — Banestriker and Anubis setting up a hunt, discussions of how to infiltrate/fight Blue Sky Logging, Toxic’s disturbing dream of the infamous Cookie Cutter Dancer and his pet bane, and passing reference to Gah-thkk, another nasty Dancer with a crystal skull fetish that seemed to be draining the blood from powerful beings like mages to feed itself. Towards the end is a rank challenge between Bloodfang and Broken Claw — Red Talons.

First time I heard about Chloe.

Also, the Fury Spooner rags on Toxic for her interpretation of the Litany.

MOOT: Monday the 28th of February at 6:15 PST.

Summary: Arjun Fletcher assumes position as new sept alpha following Horus’ departure to Malfeas.  Inner Sky summons Magpie and Buffalo, two of the three caern totems of the Wheel Renewed; the long-dormant Wendigo caern had just been revived, and its third totem had not yet been discovered.

Note: Fianna Chris McDowell would later fall to the Wyrm and walk the Spiral.

  • Calling of the Litany (Toxic, Glass Walker Galliard; Velasquez, Bone Gnawer Ragabash)
  • Inner Sky (Thorn, Silver Fang Theurge)
  • Truthcatching (Anubis) announcements of new caern officers
  • Challenges (Anubis, Strider Half-Moon and Batrana, Old Bat)

Sepdet’s Beginning

File: “Spokes of the Wheel:  scattered notes of Sashi’s adventures in st. claire”

At first, I MUSHed from a VAX terminal (I had no modem until ’96).  When I got home, I’d make notes on my computer and print out descs to transcribe. I soon got permission to use my office computer after work, giving me a way to log (except that a cow orker wiped my HD in August, so I lost my first six months apart from the few logs I’d saved to floppy).
Here’s my notes from my first month on GarouMUSH.
