These were taken at the lakes in my village, which have ducks, egrets, swans, terns, and great mobs of "Santorini" swallows flying out from their nests under the bridges at sunset. I've been kayaking, canoeing, and bicycle-boating on the lakes so far. I want to take sailing lessons! There's also an incredibly good restaurant hanging out over the water near the lake that's about 10 blocks from my house. Nummy tomato/basil salmon linguini to die for. Watch out for carnivorous ducks and carp, though; they swarm just off the deck begging for bread.

The pictures taken from a boat (the first one showing my ugly feet) are taken at South Lake on a different date -- there's two lakes in the village. At a guess I'd say each lake was a couple miles long, not quite a mile across. Both have gazebos out on the water and a wooden bridge across with an artificial island (each with its own trees and benches) in the middle. All very suburbia, but suburbia done right for a change!
